About Exalto GRP cutlass bearings
An Exalto GRP cutlass bearing has a glass-reinforced composite outer shell with a grooved nitrile rubber lining. It is water-lubricated: water passing through the grooves in the lining lubricates and cools it.
Exalto identifies GRP as suitable for steel and aluminium stern tubes as well as compatible non-metallic housings. That makes it the shell to compare where Exalto advises against brass, such as a steel or aluminium stern tube.
Follow the specified fit and retention method for your boat, and check the bearing length as well as the shaft and housing sizes.
Every GRP bearing here is from Exalto's Standard Marine Range, manufactured in the United Kingdom. Each product page gives the nominal shaft, housing bore and length and, where listed, the manufactured bore and outside-diameter tolerances, so you can check the finished bearing against your measurements.
