Cutlass Bearings for a 50 mm Shaft
We list six Exalto cutlass bearings for a 50 mm (1.969") propeller shaft, in phenolic, brass and GRP. They fit housing bores of 2-5/8" (66.68 mm) and 70 mm (2.756"), and every one is 200 mm (7.874") long. The nominal wall thickness, half the difference between housing bore and shaft, runs from 8.34 mm to 10 mm.
Of these, one is in Australian stock (the phenolic MIPSF50), with same-day dispatch on orders placed by 2pm AEST on a business day. You can pre-order the other five, with dispatch estimated at 3 to 4 weeks. Prices run from $315.00 (the phenolic MIPSF50) to $560.00 including GST, and Express Post delivery within Australia is free.
Three of these are metric/imperial: the shaft bore and length are metric and the housing diameter is in inches.
A 2" (50.8 mm) shaft is only 0.8 mm larger, but its bearings are a different nominal size and are not interchangeable with these. Check which unit your shaft was made to before ordering, or see the bearings for a 2" shaft.

How to choose a bearing for a 50 mm shaft
Measure the housing bore and the length of the bearing you are replacing, then find that combination below. Bearings that share a housing bore and length differ in shell material, tolerances and availability.
- 2-5/8" (66.68 mm) housing, 200 mm (7.874") long: phenolic MIPSF50 (in stock, $315.00), brass MIBSF50 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $510.00), GRP MIGSF50 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $415.00)
- 70 mm (2.756") housing, 200 mm (7.874") long: phenolic MPSF50 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $330.00), brass MBSF50 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $560.00), GRP MGSF50 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $410.00)
Phenolic, brass and GRP describe the outer shell, and each has a grooved nitrile rubber lining. The non-metallic phenolic shell avoids galvanic corrosion between the shell and a metal housing. Exalto advises against fitting brass directly into steel or aluminium housings. Exalto identifies GRP as suitable for steel and aluminium stern tubes as well as compatible non-metallic housings. More about each: phenolic cutlass bearings, brass cutlass bearings and GRP cutlass bearings.
Matching sizes is the first check, not the last: confirm the shell material, the housing's condition and the retention method for your boat. The measuring guide explains what to record, or contact us with your measurements.
