Cutlass Bearings for a 55 mm Shaft
We list three Exalto cutlass bearings for a 55 mm (2.165") propeller shaft, in phenolic, brass and GRP. They fit a 75 mm (2.953") housing bore, and every one is 220 mm (8.661") long. The nominal wall is 10 mm thick: half the difference between housing bore and shaft.
None is in Australian stock today. You can pre-order all three, with dispatch estimated at 3 to 4 weeks. Prices run from $375.00 (the phenolic MPSF55) to $660.00 including GST, and Express Post delivery within Australia is free.
A 2-1/8" (53.98 mm) shaft is only 1.03 mm smaller, but its bearings are a different nominal size and are not interchangeable with these. Check which unit your shaft was made to before ordering.

How to choose a bearing for a 55 mm shaft
Measure the housing bore and the length of the bearing you are replacing, then find that combination below. Every bearing here shares one housing bore and length; they differ in shell material, tolerances and availability.
- 75 mm (2.953") housing, 220 mm (8.661") long: phenolic MPSF55 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $375.00), brass MBSF55 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $660.00), GRP MGSF55 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $460.00)
Phenolic, brass and GRP describe the outer shell, and each has a grooved nitrile rubber lining. The non-metallic phenolic shell avoids galvanic corrosion between the shell and a metal housing. Exalto advises against fitting brass directly into steel or aluminium housings. Exalto identifies GRP as suitable for steel and aluminium stern tubes as well as compatible non-metallic housings. More about each: phenolic cutlass bearings, brass cutlass bearings and GRP cutlass bearings.
Matching sizes is the first check, not the last: confirm the shell material, the housing's condition and the retention method for your boat. The measuring guide explains what to record, or contact us with your measurements.
