Cutlass Bearings for a 60 mm Shaft
We list eight Exalto cutlass bearings for a 60 mm (2.362") propeller shaft, in phenolic, brass and GRP. They fit housing bores of 3" (76.2 mm), 80 mm (3.15") and 85 mm (3.346"), and every one is 240 mm (9.449") long. The nominal wall thickness, half the difference between housing bore and shaft, runs from 8.1 mm to 12.5 mm.
Of these, two are in Australian stock (one phenolic and one brass), with same-day dispatch on orders placed by 2pm AEST on a business day. You can pre-order the other six, with dispatch estimated at 3 to 4 weeks. Prices run from $355.00 (the phenolic MIPSF60) to $850.00 including GST, and Express Post delivery within Australia is free.
Three of these are metric/imperial: the shaft bore and length are metric and the housing diameter is in inches.
The nearest imperial shaft size we list, 2-1/4" (57.15 mm), is 2.85 mm smaller and takes different bearings. Keep the shaft size in the unit it was made to: 60 mm is 2.362", and metric and imperial bearings of a similar size are not interchangeable.

How to choose a bearing for a 60 mm shaft
Measure the housing bore and the length of the bearing you are replacing, then find that combination below. Bearings that share a housing bore and length differ in shell material, tolerances and availability.
- 3" (76.2 mm) housing, 240 mm (9.449") long: phenolic MIPSF60 (in stock, $355.00), brass MIBSF60 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $670.00), GRP MIGSF60 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $520.00)
- 80 mm (3.15") housing, 240 mm (9.449") long: phenolic MPSF60 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $385.00), brass MBSF60 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $795.00), GRP MGSF60 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $530.00)
- 85 mm (3.346") housing, 240 mm (9.449") long: phenolic MPSF60X85X240 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $400.00), brass MBSF60X85X240 (in stock, $850.00)
Phenolic, brass and GRP describe the outer shell, and each has a grooved nitrile rubber lining. The non-metallic phenolic shell avoids galvanic corrosion between the shell and a metal housing. Exalto advises against fitting brass directly into steel or aluminium housings. Exalto identifies GRP as suitable for steel and aluminium stern tubes as well as compatible non-metallic housings. More about each: phenolic cutlass bearings, brass cutlass bearings and GRP cutlass bearings.
Matching sizes is the first check, not the last: confirm the shell material, the housing's condition and the retention method for your boat. The measuring guide explains what to record, or contact us with your measurements.
