Cutlass Bearings for a 25 mm Shaft
We list 12 Exalto cutlass bearings for a 25 mm (0.984") propeller shaft, in phenolic, rubber, brass and GRP. They fit four housing bores from 34 mm (1.339") to 40 mm (1.575"), in lengths from 55 mm (2.165") to 120 mm (4.724"). The nominal wall thickness, half the difference between housing bore and shaft, runs from 4.5 mm to 7.5 mm.
Of these, six are in Australian stock (two phenolic and four rubber), with same-day dispatch on orders placed by 2pm AEST on a business day. You can pre-order the other six, with dispatch estimated at 3 to 4 weeks. Prices run from $120.00 (the rubber MRSFF25X34X55) to $215.00 including GST, and Express Post delivery within Australia is free. The lowest-priced one in stock is the rubber MRSFF25X36X100 at $125.00.
Three of these are metric/imperial: the shaft bore and length are metric and the housing diameter is in inches.
A 1" (25.4 mm) shaft is only 0.4 mm larger, but its bearings are a different nominal size and are not interchangeable with these. Check which unit your shaft was made to before ordering, or see the bearings for a 1" shaft.

How to choose a bearing for a 25 mm shaft
Measure the housing bore and the length of the bearing you are replacing, then find that combination below. Bearings that share a housing bore and length differ in shell material, tolerances and availability.
- 34 mm (1.339") housing, 55 mm (2.165") long: rubber MRSFF25X34X55 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $120.00)
- 36 mm (1.417") housing, 70 mm (2.756") long: rubber MRSFF25X36X70 (in stock, $125.00)
- 36 mm (1.417") housing, 100 mm (3.937") long: phenolic MPSF25X36X100 (in stock, $170.00), rubber MRSFF25X36X100 (in stock, $125.00)
- 1-1/2" (38.1 mm) housing, 100 mm (3.937") long: phenolic MIPSF25 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $170.00), brass MIBSF25 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $205.00), GRP MIGSF25 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $205.00)
- 40 mm (1.575") housing, 100 mm (3.937") long: phenolic MPSF25 (in stock, $170.00), rubber MRSFF25X40X100 (in stock, $135.00), brass MBSF25 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $215.00), GRP MGSF25 (dispatch in 3 to 4 weeks, $180.00)
- 40 mm (1.575") housing, 120 mm (4.724") long: rubber MRSFF25X40X120 (in stock, $140.00)
Phenolic, brass and GRP describe the outer shell, and each has a grooved nitrile rubber lining. The non-metallic phenolic shell avoids galvanic corrosion between the shell and a metal housing. Exalto advises against fitting brass directly into steel or aluminium housings. Exalto identifies GRP as suitable for steel and aluminium stern tubes as well as compatible non-metallic housings. The rubber bearings have no rigid outer shell and use their own mounting arrangement. More about each: phenolic cutlass bearings, rubber cutlass bearings, brass cutlass bearings and GRP cutlass bearings.
Matching sizes is the first check, not the last: confirm the shell material, the housing's condition and the retention method for your boat. The measuring guide explains what to record, or contact us with your measurements.
